The Lunchbox Series is a bite-sized professional learning program designed for busy people!
This webinar outlines the important frameworks to inform the use of sensory modulation as an intervention when working with people with trauma experience. Content includes:
- Using a sensory lens with presenting issues, and the value of sensory solutions whether there is a dominant sensory explanation or not
- Making sure sensory modulation is SAIM (Safe, Appropriate, Individualised and Meaningful) with specific focus on risk
- Decreasing, Increasing & New (DIN) Sensory input
- Reducing certain sensory input and increasing certain sensory input, including information on Sensory Hot Spots and Sensory Hot What’s.
- Using sensory modulation to change the environment
- Using sensory modulation to change occupation/s
- Applying sensory strategies at different stages of navigating stress and trauma
- Sensory modulation accommodations with regard to PEO (the person, environment and occupations

Trainers:
The webinars are presented by Carolyn Fitzgibbon and Julie O’Sullivan. Carolyn and Julie are two experienced OTs who have worked together for many years and share considerable knowledge and practical experience in the implementation of sensory modulation and approaches, at both direct client and service development levels. Together, Carolyn & Julie have conducted many webinars and workshops for mental health districts and on behalf of OT Australia on sensory modulation and the integration of these approaches into service delivery. Carolyn and Julie have also co-authored the Sensory Modulation Resource Manual.
